I'm surprised he even has hamstrings in those chicken legs.

He's a ruckman we picked up as a rookie last year. Basically the opposite end of the Majak spectrum, the African Tony Notte

    This is fucked.

What should have been the best years of his career and made him stand out as one of the clear superstars in the competition while our premiership window was open has turned into the best part of 4 seasons down the shitter for the club.

Reckon we are fucking dumb for dropping Waterman. Is basically an extra mid in a way given how hard he runs, and works well with JK and Darling (i.e. doesn't get in their way). We've seen it work at home and at the MCG....last week anyway). Lycett is bad news if resting forward as he is just a lumbering cunt that gets in the way. Vardy just ain't much chop as a ruckman, or as a forward.

Only play two ruckman to get an advantage if we have two good ones. Lycett 80% game time as ruck and play the extra mid. Use part timers for the other 20% - any combination of Waterman, Darling, Yeo, Ah Chee, Hurn (i.e. whoever the fuck) for 7-8 minutes a quarter. Basically don't also fuck up the forward line because we lost Naita

Yeah thought we'd try get Lycett to go full time but maybe he needs his workload managed up to that point if that's what we want for finals.

If we still had Petrie he'd actually be ideal. Slots into fwd line nicely and part time ruckman.

Dual all-Australian defender Jeremy McGovern has committed to the West Coast Eagles for at least the next five years.

The AFL’s best intercept defender, who would have become a restricted free agent at the end of the season, is now likely to play out his career at the Eagles.

“It’s good news; I’m just stoked to be staying at the club,” McGovern said today.

“I love the people at the club, the direction the club is taking and it’s exciting to be a part of that.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity the club has given me and it was a gut decision to extend my contract. It would have been nice to have locked it away a bit earlier, but these things take time.

“I’m pleased it is done and now I can focus on the rest of the season. Hopefully my decision puts a few West Coast fans at ease.”

McGovern, 26, was selected with pick No. 44 in the 2011 rookie draft, but has blossomed since the arrival of Adam Simpson to be a dual all-Australian defender, with strong credentials to make that three in succession in 2018.

He has played 95 games and will be an important element in the team’s march to the finals – and ultimately the September campaign.

West Coast Eagles General Manager – Football Craig Vozzo said it was obviously a great outcome for the club.

“This is a terrific result for both the football club and Jeremy,” Vozzo said.

“He is a very important member of our squad, leadership group and an outstanding player.

“It is a very significant decision and gives us some great stability going forward. He’s a popular member of the team and one of the AFL’s premier defenders. We have also been really pleased with his continued growth as a leader.

“At 26 years of age, we believe Jeremy has a lot of football ahead of him and we look forward to contributing to his continued growth both on and off the field.”

    Thoughts from Yesterday;

    Good
Hurn, Gov, Gaff, Yeo all elite and really the foundation this season has been built upon.
JK and Darling is our x-factor, need these two firing to be a premiership chance
Shuey looks like such a better player trying to clear the congestion rather than driving into players head first, rule change has benefited his game immensely
Venables best game of the season, probably amongst the best while the game was on the line (1st quarter, maybe half) then dropped off a bit
Possibly Jetta's best for the season (??), some kicks he pulled off were fantastic

    Not so good
Cole iffy with the ball but still good overall
Sheed being played out of position adds nothing
Duggan needs a bit more composure at times
Thought we did pretty poorly in the ruck overall against 2 shit ruckmen. Vardy looked handy up forward at times - certainly think he's comfortable there as 2nd ruck
Schofield took 10 minutes to warm into the game - can't afford that against a good opponent. After that he was pretty solid but dogs delivery was absolute shit. A nice run through midfield
Darling may still be a little bit off his best. Dropped a few marks and most of his goals were cheapies out the back. Stats look impressive but I think he's still hunting good form.

    Indifferent
A lot of contributors going about it quietly; Redden, Cripps, Shep, Masto, Lecras, Willie generally contributing each week
Unsure of the role we had Hutchings play, much less noticeable than last week
If Hurn goes for standing still and Honeychurch stumbling into him I will be mad

Hutch tagged Macrae & did a very good job on him, Macrae has been getting 30+ disposals most weeks, kept him to 22.

Thought that may be the case, another one just going about his business without too much attention. As good as Yeo and Gaff has been and how much attention they are getting (although less than deserved) our entire midfield has been awesome this year.
