Given we've played Carlton and Richmond play North this week, surely us and Richmond make more sense as one pair and Carlton with North as the other pair.

Carlton and Dogs make no sense given they just faced each other.

I have zero faith in the fixturing mutts to not fuck this up and we're left with double ups and teams not playing each other.

It would make more sense to bring two teams over that all four Geelong, Collingwood, Freo and Toast haven't played yet and extend Geelong and Collingwood's stay in Perth for another two weeks. They're not going back to Melbourne after their games here so seems logical to me.

Hawthorn and Carlton locked in as next two WA hub clubs after Geelong/Collingwood.

Hawks and Blues will play each other in Perth in R9 and then WA clubs R10/11

The level Hawthorn played to on the weekend would lose to crows IMO

Spraying the ball 20m out of bounds under zero pressure is pretty bad. That happened a few times, and that was just wingard

You got to witness Adelaide at their very best last week though, our worst....

Hopefully last week was a sign of things to come, Sloane out for 4-6 weeks probably a good thing with how he's been playing lately.

I hope we offer Rankine a blank check, he says he's home sick and give GC our pick 1. He looks so good

I really dislike the prospect of drafting a KP forward with pick 1 and it seems like one of the leading prospects is an SA key forward so I dare say would be leaning that way. I feel like key forwards are one of the hardest positions to pick in the game and with how it's played these days, I'm not sure they're as important as they were a decade or two ago. Obviously something semi decent is great but I'd take an elite midfielder over an elite key position forward.

The decision to lump the WA games in horrible time slots that cant draw crowds is a disgrace. Someone needs to call this fucking moron out on it

I figured the fixturing was mainly to do with the 14 day quarantine period from leaving Vic to playing WA clubs.

Geelong flew out of Melbourne Saturday night, Collingwood likewise. So the Sunday timeslot would've been first available and I think we'd err on the side of caution with hosting double headers at Optus.

I sense there's a significant shift in the fixturing coming and more teams will be coming to WA/Qld sooner rather than later.

Clubs based in Sydney look like they're being cleared out (AFL probably tipped off that NSW is gonna be fucked, because let's face it, the AFL are always reactive and never proactive).

Melbourne are going to Qld after this round, Hawks coming to Perth after the following round. Just leaves the NSW clubs and Richmond left there (Richmond would have played them both).

Richmond presumably goes north after next week's match as they've got no chance of their players not kicking up a stink if told to come to WA. The NSW clubs presumably go north too or play each other before travelling there. Would be a risk that the Qld Premier enforces a strict quarantine on them though if they wait another week and NSW cases spike.

I imagine 2 teams continually travel from the Qld hub to Adelaide on gameday and head straight back.

I worry the fixtures are going to reach a tipping point soon.

I dont get why the AFL is so relucant to go to SA or Alice Springs. Its a much better option then Gold Coast.

Seems like Gil wants to use this to prop up his Gold Coast investment if you ask me and find a way to generate more AFL interest

What is better about Alice Springs over the GC?

Gold Coast has a lot of access to facilities (gyms and pools etc) and close proximity to another ground in the GABBA - seems like a great spot for it.

I mean this was Kennet logic last week when it came to where the GF should be

Kennett said Perth's Optus Stadium which fits 60,000 shouldn't be considered. "It's a longer flight and God only knows what you would catch while you were there," he said.
And he's on the AFLs covid response team

Have this mental image of after each stoppage a bunch of guys in hazmat suits running onto the ground to spray everyone down with disinfectant with Gil in a empty stadium by himself cheering the game on

Hazmat suits would be littered with sponsor from gambling companies BTW in order to pay for the disinfectant

Hoskin Elliot mark of the round then probably the worst kick of the round. Snapping from 15 out less than 45 degree angle
