Its true tho
Agree with Beams.
Maybe.
Collingwood have a shit tonne of young talent on their list, whether that talent is any good will be found out over the next 3 years. Buckley has basically spent his tenure rebuilding a premiership winning list which hurts them now but they could bounce back around the end of Cloke/Pendles lifespan.
Brisbane now have a ridiculously good midfield and everything else is still unproven. Their KPF stocks are pretty damn abysmal. The solution to their KPF issues isn't on their list yet. So they are basically hoping to Toaster their way to success by having a stellar midfield, strong defence and hope that it papers over a mediocre at best forward line.
Until Brisbane get the KPF talent on their list I'd probably say that Collingwood are in better shape going forward, but it's definitely a lot closer than it was 12 months ago which is quite remarkable.
Most of the ones I've noticed will play defence for you. No one has proven they can fill the hole left up forward. You have a lot of nice pieces but you don't have the forward line.
Which is why I'm calling it in Collingwood's favour. I think they are more likely to get enough success stories out of their drafting before you get a forward worth a damn. But your midfield shreds theirs as of right now.
He's only stating the obvious.
well that'll make sense as our forwards are playing in their first years.freeman, mcstay and close have shown far more than i expected them to as 18-19 year olds, they'll only get better next year when they add some muscle and when we include beams, rich and bundy into the midfield. we have a good base but need time. hoping they can all kick 25+ goals next year, but most of our goals will come from the midfield and small/medium fwds - mayes/green etc.
Think Collingwood are more likely to win a flag than Brisbane first
Think Brisbane are currently in a better position to do so.
If AFL give them better financial support, and the new training base is done to full scale, could be very interesting.
Pies will finish bottom 6 next season. Lions will be in the 8-12 section of the ladder.
Bottom four will be;
St. Kilda (last)
Melbourne
Bulldogs
Carlton
The whole concept of analysing which bottom 8 side is closer to a flag is completely ridiculous. It relies on a heap of factors that are yet to even occur. As it stands both Brisbane and Collingwood are a fair way off, and that will only change with some good recruiting/developing in the future. And considering the recent history in this area of both Collingwood/Brisbane, there's literally no basis to predict either side with confidence.
Brisbane have a good midfield, possibly the worst overall KP stocks going around though. Collingwood have better KP stocks but an inferior midfield and a fitness team that I assume turns up to work high/drunk more often than not.
@3AWSportsToday
Our man @sam_mcclure has just revealed Rodney Eade has been offered a four year deal to coach the Gold Coast Suns
Really rate Brisbane's midfield that contributed to being last in contested possessions and 16th in clearances last year (On average difference to opponent)
Looks like Eade could be the new GC coach.
