He's definitely an extremely hard player however he's crossed the line into absolutely stupid as well. Kinda surprised how no one wants to talk about how this guy is gonna get some serious CTE and probably be dead by 45

Not even sure I'll watch the game tonight. The thought of Richmonds free kicks makes me feel sick.

He's just played the game to the way the AFL has officiated it.

You incentivise putting your head in harms way by rewarding it and Selwood's approach is the outcome.

It's yet another one where the AFL has gone so stupidly far to change something that they've created a bigger problem. You have the guys who go limp in tackles to try and get their heads piledriven for a free kick now as well which are even worse than old ducky.

Loved watching this Lions game so far... First quarter an absolute snooze, just circle work and set shots, yay. Second quarter was actually good. They actually had a holding the ball that was closer to how it should be, absolutely wrong call as Robinson missed the tackle, but it was good to see. Then Coleman catches Edwards cold, drops it and then gets rewarded for it, that's the absolute worst part of the holding the ball, when you not only don't pay the free kick but then punish the tackler for making too good a tackle.

Rayner, Cameron and Neale goals were all mint though.

Top three Eagles for mine. Woosha and Matera the other two.

Loved Waters and his utter recklessness.

One of those things where when he eventually has the CTE or whatever illness/desease he gets from his career everyone will just say oh well that's how he played the game and just brush it off.

Sometimes he wouldn't even bump with any kind of technique, would just run flat stick into cunts. Genuine psychopath.

Have to laugh at Tigers supporters whining about the umpiring. I thought Lions got the raw end of the deal last night. Umpires tried their hardest to get a Tigers win for Victoria.

It's more Hardwick whinging which is annoying. I guess if they can get away with everything during the year he would want that same special treatment now

Tigers definitely had the better of the umpiring but when you whinge about everything, the other team only getting a bad deal and not savagely raped by the umpires is probably fair game...

Dimma and Leppa were complaining about the umpires at half time, pathetic really. Just shows the level of entitlement that club has.

Great news. Very VERY happy both he and Burns have left. Burns was absolutely atrocious, Yze has been good but ten odd years as an assistant, tough to see how his messages aren't stale

    Can always be learning etc.

How long until Sam Mitchell is a head coach though? Thought he left toast for that fast track, if clarko is gonna rot away in the coaches box I think he starts to look elsewhere.

Hopefully next season. AC is contracted for a further year but I can't see him wanting to see it out unless a flag is on offer, and that absolutely won't be in the next two seasons

Fuck up a bounce. Fine. Recall it and toss it up.

Razor wasnt even landing it in the big circle, both ruckman stop expecting a recall and Ray was just like

I wish they'd go back to just letting a bad bounce go, I love the chaos and unpredictability it brings.

Not sure it hurts him that much, he thrives in the chaos and followup stuff as well and has the speed that he'd make a much higher percentage of bad bounces away from him than opponents would make on them towards him while still dominating the normal bounces which are by far the majority.

What I like is that it makes it far harder to defend centre bounces as you're not certain of starting points which should mean teams are more likely to roll the dice instead of having two ruckmen both with the order to drop it to their feet and lock down.

To be clear, I think it should only be at centre bounces. Around the ground I'd love them to throw it up much faster for similar reasons. The ruck nomination should die and I'd love the 3rd man up to be brought back as well as it was a great dynamic in my opinion.

I'd also love them to dial back the ruck free kicks in general. Get rid of the majority of the holds, basically if you're not directly impeding someone competing (eg. holding their jumper back so they can't move forward) then let it go, when two ruckmen are locked up don't look for ticky tack holds. Someone being stronger should be rewarded (sorry Tim English) and pushes outside of the back should be allowed.

To be fair there are certainly bigger issues but I think these would all be simple changes that would help the game. Outside of things being faster and less structured I find it difficult to find any real negatives on the changes.

This would just lead to no ruckmen at all. If I saw this as the rule book and I was Bulldogs id just play Josh Dunkley as my full time ruck
