My missus finished 3rd in the ASX School game. Its fucking nearly 20 years later and she still brags about. It was at the time the gold stocks went boom in 2002

    Just a thought though

They have Sportschamp.com.au. This is a betting style when you enter for 10-20 bucks have 10 000 of fake cash and you gotta end up with the highest amount for the day and you win a part of the pot.

Why hasnt anyone done this for the stock market?

Such a small increase in the gold prices is something being greatly ignored. Kind of proof that investors are planning for a quick bounce back

    Markets are irrational beasts.

Probably somewhat of a dead cat bounce happening as well, without checking I'm guessing there was a fair bit of institutional shorting over the week and they still have to cover positions.

This plus have heard the fed are doing some unusual shit too which is the same as RBA, don't really know the details just had a quick glance at some article.

Seemed too big to be pure speculation particularly the asx movement

Yeah I think the 2-3% was a dead cat bounce, then the rip toward the end of the day was as a result of Trump's announcement. No doubt we will see an implosion next week when the situation gets inevitably worse.

Federal reserve are pumping shitloads of money into the system too.

Although as said I think there was a strong overreaction initially.

I expect it to go down a lot more too.

Reasonably good summary of why asx bounced. Fed did the same essentially

The whole gambling v shares is something else isn't it?

3-5% in shares = to the moon (well that's a reach)
3-5% in gambling = why the fuck did you bet on something with such shit odds?

I mean there's a pretty massive difference between them really.

Gambling loss and you lose all the capital invested.

Share loss on Coles and you've got an asset yielding roughly 6% p.a. on current prices that has a very good chance to rebound in the not too distant future.

Hence the risk/reward on 3-5% is totally justifiable and a good result while it's a horrendous payout for the risk factor on gambling.
