whale, into part 1 of Oathbringer right now, I just want Kaladin chapters and all I'm getting is Shallan.
Smashing through it! Shallan chapters can definitely drag on. Have you read Edgedancer or Warbreaker by Sanderson? Edgedancer is a small book/novella released between books 2 & 3 that introduces some new characters and contains some plot points that should be read before Oathbringer. Warbreaker is an unrelated story on a different world however a few characters from Warbreaker appear in Oathbringer. It's not required reading however provides a little background on a few of the side characters

Yeah I've been going to town on it lately, I read Edgedancer (found Lift to be super annoying but some of the other characters were good to learn about) but wasn't aware of Warbreaker having any relevance to the Stormlight series, assumed it was a completely different storyline. Kinda sucks I missed that as it might have given some more context to characters I've read about already given I'm near the end of part 1. At least with Shallan chapters now it seems to feature more of the other characters. When it was mainly just her it was pretty painful, she does have her moments though I suppose.

Crazy just how many factions/races/groups there are, I feel like I'm only just starting to wrap my head around it a little bit.

Bradman's War, Malcolm Knox's book about the 1948 Ashes tour

Pretty impressive stuff. Starts off with some background on the protagonists' war experiences, which obviously set the tone for a lot of what followed. Some people have suggested over the years that Bradman and Miller's rivalry was down to Miller's resentment at the Don having avoided conflict, but this while not ignoring the repercussions more effectively makes the case of it being a clash of egos. Also really making me wish I could have seen Ray Lindwall bowl.

Knox's special subject is sportsmanship so it's interesting to see that take on it. And a reminder of an even more astounding final day at Headingley than that shitshow last August.

The irony of all the Melbourne libraries refusing to stock Charles Murray’s The Bell Curve means I have to go and buy it

The Lost Pianos of Siberia will either be utter genuis or utter tedium. No possibility of middle ground.

whale, order Mistborn a while ago from QBD when I was getting some of the above books since they had a 20% off. Started it last week and when I opened it up, on the second page, actually had his signature in it which was super random but kinda cool.
