    Correct.

    When finished, Ill have a column on Cost per Point (CPP), which will be the main determinant of who gets chosen into the team.

    You're working within a number of constraints so the maths would be complex. I am no good at macros or the maths that would entail.

    Hey bois. Need a bit of help with a FIFA tourney I'm running next month.

    I've got a spreadsheet already that will calculate most things with very basic formulas and manual sorting. But I've been to a few nights recently where the scheduling screen looks like it's done pretty much automatically

    Anyone have a good template they could point me to where I could load in teams and it should do the rest

    Gonna be a 16 team comp with group stage and finals.
    We demand an investigation into the replacement of referee Rafshan Irmatov and his departure at a difficult time in such an important match. We ask for an examination of the grassland that was not suitable for the Syrian team, while Australian players seem to be wearing shoes that cling to the long grass, so we saw Syrian players fall during the game, while Australia's players are steady.

    I think he wants a system that he can prepare a round robin fixture list of 4 groups with 4 teams each, followed by knock out phase 1 v 2 of groups A vs. B & C vs. D, where he enters the FIFA result and it automatically populates the ladder with points and goals for and against and sorts the ladder as well.

    Let me know if you are even more confused

    There is one on here you could use as your base. Sport tournament template

    It will do what you want (autosorting of ladder) but you'd need to work on it a little. You'd need to add a method for however you sort the teams at the start (i.e. to allocate them into pools), and then basically repeat what he's done a few times ( for r8, r4, r2) connecting rankings from each round into scheduling for the next - but you can use a lot of copy pasta to do that. Then make it pretty. Time consuming depending on your level of excel, but doable.

    Just from a quick search, so there might be one that does take it all the way, rather than just round robin stage

    I think it could be done with a series of vlookups and a randomised list actually.

    How many teams do you wanna do? Ill give it a go at work tomorrow.

    How do i count how many times a certain value appears in a column and repeat it for thousands of different values?

    e.g. count how many times A1 appears, how many times A2 appears.. how many times A8767 appears

    Sounds like it would be best in a pivot table with count as value tbh

    OK next question:

    I have database of individual trips people take to travel.

    I have 9 columns for the different mode choices for each stage of the trip journey. eg if they drove to a station, then took a train then walked to work
    mode 1 = car
    mode 2 = train
    mode 3 = walk
    mode 4 = N/A
    mode 5 = N/A etc

    I want to filter the data to only show trips that at any point of the journey featured bus, trams or trains (values 7, 8, 10) aka only show the rows where 7, 8 or 10 appear in the columns AC to AK

    Pic of my ss:

    what do the values under the mode columns represent? e.g. Mode 1 is 3, Mode 2 is -2, Mode 7 is -2 etc.

    Sorry didn't explain it properly. The numbers represents the different mode type that was used in that stage of the journey e.g:
    1 = car
    2 = car passenger
    3 = motorcycle
    4 = walking
    5 = bicycle
    6 = taxi
    7 = train
    8 = tram
    9 = school bus
    10 = public bus

    The Mode1 column is the first mode they used, mode 2 the second mode etc

    or you can use nested IF functions along the lines of

    =IF(OR(AC2=7, AC2=8, AC2=10), "Yes", IF(OR(AD2=7, AD2=8, AD2=10), "Yes", IF(OR(AE2=7, AE2=8,AE2=10), "Yes",...........................,IF(OR(AK2=7, AK2=8, ADK2=10), "Yes", "No")))))))))
