Not really, r0 rating will dictate prioritisation of vaccines so makes sense that a vaccine exists for something with a high rating.
As embers said I think there's a lot less cause for concern v an airborne epidemic like let's say super power bat measles

An r0 of 4 and an intensive care rate of 10% is going to kill a lot of people. A lot of the newest cases are reported to have come from Milan which means it's only a matter of time before it debilitates European economies and tears the 3rd world a new one.
Based on this rational, we will never reduce its strength via a treatment plan ever. In reality one will come to in say 6 weeks time if we are being generous and expanding times for extra trials if the first lot don't go anywhere

I still maintain that at least economically this is a big fucking deal and it's certainly going to kill millions once it's got a foothold in the 3rd world.
Furthermore on a more personal level I'm worried that my pregnant wife and my unborn son are immunocompromised and are at much higher risk of fatality in the event they are exposed. Plus I'm not exactly excited at the prospect of my wife being in hospital (albeit a private one, thank fuck) during the outbreak of a global pandemic.
It has a foothold in the country with 12% of the worlds population and has killed a few thousand....
If it kills millions, let's say 10 million people, then it needs to infect roughly 500 million people
Of course you are assuming we never treat it ever. If we do treat it I'd say to kill 10 million the we need about 2 billion people to get it at a minimum I'd say

Chinese figures are much worse then South Koreas. Koreas fatality rate is at about 1%. So I'd assume they are the ones that are lieing?

Interestingly, caught an Uber this morning and the driver was Chinese (quietly shitting myself lol).
He said a couple of things which were interesting.
He picked up a passenger who fishes lobsters for a living and most of his catches go to China and this has all been stopped. Was concerned he might go out of business. Shows how far the outreach of implications are.
Secondly,he was saying his family lives in China and are located some 200kms from Wuhan and city is in lockdown. Can’t leave your house. You have to order groceries etc and it gets delivered to you.

People get hospitalised for the flu though. It would be the same except people who are low risk of dying would be kept as precaution or observation purposes.
Also artificially inflates the hospitalisation rates showdownhero so your stats aren't really reliable. Even comparison to SARS would be skewed given corona virus is only in early stages. Would need to compare to Sars at the same stage (which would be significantly higher than where it finished)
