The long play
SA already done 100x more in response than we did, so hopefully they get on top of it quickly.

When we were given a truckload of money with zero direction as to what it was for. I naturally assumed we were going to start up a camp in the outskirts of Kalgoorlie and pretty much started forming a idea of how that would work, only to be told 2 days later it would be CBD quarantine which generally confused the fuck out of me. No one really explained in the 3 months why it was for but as times gone by I could see it was they simply wanted to protect the mining industry and if hundreds died in the CBD because of it then so be it

1. Why
2. why dont they fund the testing of the clints walking around the hotel as well.
3. Travelers get tested on day 3 and 12 or something though? Semi Constant stream of returnees so surely there is a nurse on site doing these a few days a week. How hard is to structure the work force get tested a few times a week at the same time.
States are doing like 5-10k tests a day another couple of hundred doesnt seem like an issue at all.

I can confirm the cost of locking down a state is more than any dedicated testing facility for HQ workers.
The lack of foresight with COVID-19 is incredible, we are so reactive instead of proactive.

1. They need direct turnaround time to be effective wheras those in hotels can wait the 20+ hours.
2. Sorry I am confused. I thought you meant testing for interstate travellers. Thats Federal funded. Hotel quarantine is state funded and thats because the state governments wouldnt let them control it. They wanted full control to do what they want. Ironically enough, that was Dans idea more or less
3. Theyd need to be tested every day before they go home to be of any use and even then the use is somewhat up in the air still
In the end 1,2,3 are stupid questions if you ask me. Off site camp setups should have been used from day 1 in the Northern Territory

Not by a hell of alot
I think there is this confusion that the tests are 100% accurate when in reality its not even close to that. From what ive heard, if this was a test for anything else, itd be chucked in the bin due to the percentage of misdiagnosis it gives out but because they are making them so quick and in such huge supplies and are deemed as so important they just accept the mediocrity.
The amount of checks and re-tests etc a hotel test would go through would be double or triple what some dude driving by in a car does

Thats a quiet Monday isnt it in regards to escaping Adelaide?
Sco Mo was down here last week, saying that the era of border closures are over and that it shouldn't happen.
next min, we close our border to South Australia again....WA didn't even wait. Queensland has also joined the closing cluster.
Think Tassie needs to find a balance between tourism and shutting down the drawbridge. We can't do a Queensland or WA and live in a bubble. we need people to come and see all our trees.
