Also, let say in 6 weeks time we get numbers down again, push to start reopening and the same thing happens, what happens at that point? Can't really keep doing this indefinitely I wouldn't have thought. Same for other states, if they blow up at some point, bring it in but it goes out again, do you then just go the fuck it approach?
Other States seem like that are somewhat competent/prepared to deal with another outbreak, also helps they've effectively eliminated it so as long as they can jump on a case early they'll be fine. We are fucked on the other hand because this level of community transmissions is probably too much to come back from without a 10+ week lockdown, especially when you consider that cases will probably keep rising for another 1-2 weeks. This lockdown is effectively the same length as the first one (late-March to early May) but its starting from a much different position.
Enforcement needs to be super strict, especially in that North-West corridor where 80% of the cases are. Really just need to drop in a thicc wall from Melbourne CBD upwards and we'll be right dylan123.

The human element is the most dangerous and unpredictable element to this virus imo. In a theoretical sense, if people adhere to the rules and did the right thing then it would be much easier to control and eradicate. However the selfishness, arrogance and ignorance of the general population makes it impossible. Just look at the people refusing to get tested, ignoring social distancing rules, believing that the virus isn't real. What hope do we really have?
