Shane Warne has named his 15-man Australia squad for the World Cup, and made the bold call of leaving out one-day international cricket’s highest scoring batsman in 2019.

    Warne's squad of 15 :-

    Warner
    Short
    Finch
    Smith
    Maxwell
    Stoinis
    Carey
    Cummins
    Starc
    Richardson J (if fit)
    Zampa

    Plus

    Marsh S
    N Lyon
    A Turner
    Coulter-Nile

Short has not been selected for any of Australia’s past 15 ODIs and his selection ahead of Khawaja would be a particularly brave call given the left-hander’s form. Khawaja sits atop the ODI run-scoring charts in 2019 (769 at 59.15), with Finch one spot behind (634 at 52.83).

Given the form Warner is in currently in the IPL, I think we have to accept he will be picked for sure.

I think our best 11 would be :-

    Khawaja
    Finch
    Warner
    Smith
    Maxwell
    Stoinis
    Carey
    Cummins
    Starc
    NCN/ Richardson
    Zampa

Can't break up the Finch/Khawaja opening combo given their form of late.

Hardest pick is the final bowling spot out of NCN/ Richo (if fit)/ Haze possibly or Lyon if a spinners wicket.

No Shaun Marsh an interesting call Bunga. Averaging 48 for 2019.

Issue is that the majority of the group matches for Australia are going to be at the smallest grounds. Trent Bridge, Taunton and The Oval are seeing 350+ on a regular basis.

I wonder if its combination of deciding that Maxwell bowling 10 overs/batting down the order offers more than Lyon, and trying to fit all the batsmen in?

    i.e:

    Warner
    Finch
    Khawaja
    Smith
    Turner
    Stoinis
    Maxwell
    Carey
    Cummins
    Starc
    Zampa

Fair chunk of news just dropped in the last ten minutes. WC squad and CA contracts.

Australia's #CWC19 squad: Aaron Finch (c), Jason Behrendorff, Alex Carey (wk), Nathan Coulter-Nile, Pat Cummins, Usman Khawaja, Nathan Lyon, Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Jhye Richardson, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, David Warner, Adam Zampa https://t.co/05qv5BKvih

So Warner's rehabilitation is a fait accompli then. Little bit disappointing tbh.
