Got to be the first time that both 8th seeds have beaten the 1st seed in the first match?

Kind of feel 76ers are better leaving Horford out of the rotation altogether and replacing with Mike Scott so they have more of a 3 point threat.

They are trying to put a square peg in a round hole here. Its just not going to work. Throw the peg away and try find a round one

Chucking up bricks is hard work

In all seriosuness though, Doc Rivers is arguably the worst coach of any sport ive ever seen. I reckon you could put his team up against a bunch of high school cheerleaders in tutus and he wouldnt notice. He just doesnt plan or strategise in any shape or form. Just writes 5 names on a sheet and prays

Scary part is he's improved so much since he was with the Magic, god that was a disastrous time in a disastrous franchise full of them.

He can't win this though, he wasn't bad enough to stop the Celtics winning a title. Even Horse can't win this kind of title because of the flag he jagged and we all know how I feel about him.

Haha I was remembering back to that when he would make these absurdly bad coaching calls. The kind of coach who would be like "Chris Paul is small, and Joakim Noah is tall, quick get Joakhi on, Joakin, go mark Chris Paul". He would constantly try do the opposite of good as some form of surprise tactic of sorts and itd drastically fail.

Too many teams going deep into bench rotations atm. Mike D'Antoni is spot on with the 8 man rotation he has atm

NBA draft lottery on, T-Wolves get pick 1, GSW get pick 2, Hornets 3 and Bulls 4. Imagine the top 3 will now be

    1. Carsen Edwards
    2. James Wiseman
    3. Lamelo Ball

A chance though that GSW pick Ball up to free up Steph even more from passing duties

GSW will probs try and trade even though Wiseman seems a good fit.

Knicks move down again as is tradition. No upward move since Ewing lololololol. Guess we look at Halliburton now.

Pretty sure GSW said they wont trade if they got a top 3 pick, which they have.

I cant see anyway they do trade given the salary cap situation they have. Unless someone is that desperate for James Wiseman they can lump Wiggins contract and be happy (which I cant see, no rebuilding team wants Wiggins)

A amazing stat in that New York have not outdone their lottery chances (ie. had a 40% chance for being top 3 then getting top 3) since 1985

Would move to know the odds of such a feat in all actuality. Itd be astronimcal id say

This is the same as flipping a coin right, each year you have a 50/50 chance of beating the "estimate" pick at 50% probability. You are equally likely to beat it as you are to not beat it.

    So would be 50% every year for 35 years = 0.5^35 = 0.0000000029% chance

Hmm yeah probably about right but the flip side of this also is they have also constantly reached the 20% chances of the worst possible resultt and getting it. Not all the time but alot of the time. If you weight it all out its below number its fair to say

I think it would be worse than 50/50 though, ie most likely result would be everything stays the same.

To move down you need odds that are worse than your own (and all those above) to keep coming up. The odds have changed a lot in the last two years as well to make it more volatile (just as knicks get the best odds )

Yeah that's why I said at the pick where the odds are 50/50

Lottery pick 1 for example doesn't mean you have 50% chance at landing pick 1 but it does mean you have roughly 50% chance to get a pick within top 4, so to land a pick 5 is a 50% chance. To do that 35 years in a row is horrendous bad luck but I don't think that is what has happened to Knicks, I think embers is just saying they havent hit their seed in a pick, which is not probable at the top of the lottery anyway (140/1000 chance of getting pick 1 as the 1 seed)

Also I don't think they've participated in the lottery for 35 years either so those odds are off.

Yeah that 50/50 calc is way off fwiw.

Throw in that they weren't in the lottery from 88 through 2001 because Ewing made them pretty damn good and then another 5 or so years, mostly in the Melo era, where they made the playoffs and it's already only half as bad as the original stat sounds.

Throw in that it's been really unlikely that teams would move up from outside the top 6 for the majority of that time and that explains a lot of those years, you've got like a 10% chance of moving up independent moving up at 7th, it's like 1% towards the end. So realistically outside the top 5 you're at a 90% chance of staying or being worse.

If you're first, which I think the Knicks have been a couple of times, you're literally 100% chance to not outdo your starting spot. In 2nd you're an 80% chance to not outdo your starting position. Third, 4th and 5th are still less likely to move up than to remain or go down but it's slightly better.

To be fair, the odds would still suggest at some point they should have gone up but I doubt it's as long a shot that they wouldn't as you'd probably expect.
