So the Matador Cup begun today, but for some reason games aren't being televised on GEM until Thursday.

6 x centuries (Dunk, Ferguson, Bancroft, S.Marsh, Maddinson, Smith)
1 x double ton (Head)

CAXI is already looking like an awful idea as they made 59 and lost by close enough to 300. Tasmania beat Queensland by 9 wickets and South Australia won a game.

(here you go Axel. u lazy shit)

i like this thread better.

most of the matches will now be telecast. yay.

i dont understand why they wanted to include a bunch of kids in this comp. if they wanted an 7th team, they should have bring back the Comets and Merv Hughes.

Rumblah

If that CA XI doesn't improve drastically, the Matador Stats for the season are going to be crazy skewed. Already given two dead easy hundreds and a 6-fa.

Kane Richardson, too, with a 5-fer today. Both could play Hazlewood's role, if he's somehow out of the frame.

I still don't get the hype on Travis Head

Pretty experienced already for his age, and has a pretty decent record, too. Was surprised the Redbacks made him captain so young, though, and don't think he really should be in any sort of conversation for higher honours for a while yet. That double century is going to be both a gift and a curse on him until he starts consistently producing.

QLD is just loaded with quality fast bowling prospects at the moment. Michael Neser can't get a bowl today, Cameron Gannon can't get a game, and Alistair McDermott can't even get a contract!

Difference in this match was between Stonis innings and Ross' . Ross went on with it and recovered his shocking SR, Stonis failed and ended with a SR of around 60%. was roughly the amount of balls as well.

i am sad. was looking forward to Victoria v NSW final. dont think South Australia has the batting line up to survive Starc.

This was a pitch where going for a slog in the last 10 overs was never going to work. poor tactics by the Vics. admittedly, South Australia did make 86 in their last 10, but that was helped by shocking Victoria bowling.

FATHERHOOD and captaincy agree with former Australia batsman Mark Cosgrove, piling on the runs and wisdom while shedding the pounds in a life changing transformation.

Early morning walks with the pram, SACA physical performance manager Stephen Schwerdt’s hard line fitness doctrine and discerning diet choices saw Cozzie report for South Australia duty Monday around 90kg, a shadow of his former self.

“It is the lightest I have been since playing for Australia in 2006,” said Cosgrove.

“It was just trying to lead by example at Leicester in the gym and out in the middle. I’ve been doing a lot of bike riding and watching the diet. I feel the best I have in 10 or 11 years.

we had to pick one of Gulbis or Faulkner and have Silk in the team. Dan Marsh is very much in the Tim Coyne line of thinking in regards to all rounders. He just cant have enough of them.

Much as I hope it isn't true, Hilfenhaus looked just about done to me last year, might be over the hill. Rainbird took 5-22 and 3-27 for Clarence so fair chance he comes in for Gulbis if they go the extra quick, though the next game is against SA so maybe he stays for that :drake:

Silk a certainty to come back in, probably for Dunk, though maybe for Doran. Bailey the only batsmen who looked any good in the game though. Dom Michael showed a bit so doubt he gets dropped. Doolan was really stiff, reckon the 2 balls that dismissed him bounced about a combined 5cm, which is not what he needed coming off last seasons nightmare.

I'd be tempted to drop both of Dunk/Paine and give Triffit the gloves but I doubt they go that option after 1 game.

Yeah i cant really provide a compelling case for Hifly. he hasnt done much in grade cricket so far this year. massive drop off. be interesting to see if this is his last year in first class cricket. think he was close to leaving the state last year. Rainbird is still young and has showed some good touches in the past.

Triffs card is stamped. he could do anything i still dont think we would get a gig. waste of talent. I think Doran will continue as he is the future and we had to give him a lot to entice him to come down south.

Vics handed win for abandoned SCG clash | cricket.com.au (http://www.cricket.com.au/news/victoria-nsw-blues-sheffield-shield-match-abandoned-cricket-australia-review/2015-11-09)

Victoria receive six points following abandonment of Sheffield Shield match at the SCG

Victoria has been awarded six points and New South Wales none after their Sheffield Shield clash at the SCG was abandoned due to unsafe conditions The match at the SCG was called off on Sunday when umpires deemed the surface surrounding the centre wicket was unsafe for play.

Cricket Australia announced on Monday that the Bushrangers had been awarded the win in accordance with Playing Conditions Law 7.2 - 'In the event of a match being abandoned because of inadequate pitch and/or ground preparation the match will be awarded to the visiting team'.

Speaking on Sky's Big Sports Breakfast on Monday, Haddin said he was not surprised the Blues were more enthusiastic to get on with play on a rain-affected outfield than their Victorian opponents.

"They [Victoria] would have kicked and screamed more than most and I wouldn't be surprised over the next week that they, like, lodge a complaint [saying] that it was New South Wales's fault and they tried for six points," Haddin said.

"I think if it had have been anyone else, there would have been a chance to get on. The SCG traditionally drains outstanding, so even after those downfalls, you're on in an hour after they've cleaned it up."

Then, asked how much he loved people south of the border, Haddin replied tongue-in-cheek: "Melbourne's a great spot if it had no Victorians."

Fast bowler Andrew Fekete has gone from the cusp of a Baggy Green to being dropped by his state after Tasmania wielded the axe after their seventh straight Sheffield Shield defeat. Fekete's axing was one of four changes to the squad for their Shield clash with New South Wales at Bankstown Oval.

Fekete, opening batsman Dom Michael and wicketkeeper Tim Paine have all been dropped from the Tigers’ 12-man squad for the game starting Saturday, while fast bowler Ben Hilfenhaus has been rested. Fekete’s demotion comes after he was selected in Australia’s Test squad for last month’s postponed two-Test tour of Bangladesh.

Michael was dropped after scoring 43, 4, 0 and 2 at the top of the Tigers’ order, while wicketkeeper Paine scored 27 runs across his four Shield innings to date. The Tigers have instead looked to their youth, calling in right-arm medium-fast bowler Hamish Kingston (24), wicketkeeper Tom Triffitt (24), batsman Beau Webster (21) and left-arm spinner Clive Rose (26) into the squad as Tasmania hunt for their first win of the Shield season following losses to Western Australia and Queensland. "(He's) had a big 18 months and he's been struggling a bit with his body and that's affected his technique," Tassie coach Dan Marsh told reporters on Thursday. As the Tigers search for their first win of the Shield season, Fekete will remain in Hobart working to overcome the problem. "Where he's delivering the ball from, he's collapsing a little bit and he needs to get up a lot higher when he releases the ball," Marsh said. "He needs to get more upright and that comes through his jump.
