Few matches have been and gone, South Australia continue to be a rabble and not at the level required. Seen some questionable hundreds so far, with Neser, Agar and Henriques all raising the bat which makes me question the flatness in the wickets. Currently watching Cam Green who has impressed with another 50* and my superstar keeper ( :tear: ) Sam Whiteman posted another good hundred.

Ben McDermott, Labuschagne, Swepson and Ellis have all impresed me too.

The expectation surrounding Australia's budding allrounder Cameron Green can only intensify following his career-best, unbeaten 185 against a world-class New South Wales attack today.

confused if he's better off staying playing for WA or getting a baggy green. we fuck bowlers up like demo derby cars, but CA just straight up fuck people up, especially younger ones.

no doubt they will blood him by playing him in some pointless t20s or odis where he doesn't get a proper shot and then is discarded like trash

With Labuschagne, Smith and Green in the top 6 (even whilst he can only bat) we'd actually be in a really good position to make consistently good totals. I'm lead to believe CA have been frothing Green for a long, long time. It'd blow my mind if he got discarded quick based on what I know.

We'd also be binning pleb Wade off so there's genuinely no negative.

Green out for 197.

Bunga

The 438 balls faced by Cameron Green is the most in a #SheffieldShield (http://www.rollingzone.com.au/forum/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=SheffieldShield) innings since Cameron Bancroft faced 567 for his 211 v NSW in 2015.

Didn't see the dismissal, those that did are saying he got a terrible lbw decision - inside edge & then it hit him on the back thigh pad (he is 200cms tall) so would of gone over the stumps easily.

I can't see many changes in the squad due to covid and all the bubbles. Wade has obviously been told he is in and so, he is sitting out of our first 2-3 matches to be with his family after being in the England tour. once you in the bubble, it going to be hard to get out of the bubble and vice versa

That raises many reactions (presumably why he said it) but I think the first was "no pressure then" and straight after "sure who is Smith anyway "

Would love to give Green a bash but let's not lose the run of ourselves. Until he's off the mark...

Am I right in saying he's new to opening this year? Doing brilliantly but it's a bit of a risk.Only opened twice yeah. Probably one of two things going against him. Hasn't done it very long and the question marks over his mental health. Feel like only one of him and Green will debut, Pucovski probably edging it but Green has been making runs for a while now. Big call.

Red Neville
9th November 2020, 01:56 AM
Green can bowl as well, I'd say that has him shading it slightly. Noticeably been back bowling these last couple of matches when he didn't make big runs.

Pucovski has been earmarked for a while though, remember this time last year when he put himself out of the running, saying he wasn't ready.

Bunga

Cam Green is the youngest batsman since David Hookes to score 3X150+ scores in the same shield season.

"Just in the past 15 days, the right-hander has, in two formats and at two levels, racked up more than 650 runs, his 201 in Premier Cricket fortnight back followed by 168no and 144 in Shield and One-Day Cup matches against South Australia before today's 258-ball occupation."

Rumblah
7th March 2021, 11:08 AM
Makes you wonder if maybe what we do with number five changes as a result. I still feel Green is better staying at 6 in the short to medium term, but having him scoring runs so freely at six may make them consider a non gotta go fast option at five. I know he's in dog-shit nick at the moment but someone more in the mould of Kurtis Patterson over a Wade or a Head who just do dumb shit and genuinely never learn. Maybe even a Henriques who is in the form of his life.

I know he became a meme a while ago being in the frame for a Test berth off the back of Steve Smith saying he is good, but I reckon Dan Hughes has been awfully, awfully unlucky not to represent Australia in ODI's. Bashed out another hundred today, his sixth while averaging 56.84.

For the second time in a month Tasmania has been backed into a COVID19 selection corner due to WA's border restrictions, as the squad prepares to fly west with a Marsh Cup finals spot still on the line. Siddle has to miss because he spent time on the Gold Coast sometime last year

Thanks WA, ya bunch of wankers. We will still bowl you out for 32 as well.

Bunga
1st April 2021, 06:19 PM
Western Australia have recalled a trio of internationals for their pivotal match against Tasmania this weekend, putting the selection squeeze on a handful of big names as WA push for a spot in the Marsh Sheffield Shield final.

The return of skipper Mitch Marsh, young gun Josh Philippe and spin-bowling allrounder Ashton Agar could leave the likes of former Test No.3 Hilton Cartwright on the outer of a batting line-up that has posted 17 individual centuries in seven matches this season.

Already without internationals Ashton Turner, Marcus Stoinis and D'Arcy Short, WA could drop Cartwright and highly-rated youngster Jake Carder from their top six to accommodate Marsh and Philippe, who are set to play their first Shield games of the summer.

Having been in and out of bio-secure bubbles in four different countries since late August, Marsh and Philippe recently withdrew from the upcoming IPL, meaning they are available for the remainder of WA's season.

Given openers Cameron Bancroft and Sam Whiteman as well as gloveman Josh Inglis are coming off centuries against Victoria last week, and with veteran Shaun Marsh and star batter Cameron Green secure in the top four, squeezing the younger Marsh brother and Philippe into the No.5 and No.6 positions seems the most likely scenario for WA selectors.

However, with Agar also back in the side having batted at No.6 at the start of the season, and with Joel Paris coming off a hundred last week as well, WA could decide to leave out another batting star to accommodate an extra bowling option in a game they must win to guarantee a spot in the Shield decider.

Possible WA team :-

1. Cam Bancroft
2. Sam Whiteman
3. Shaun Marsh
4. Cameron Green
5. Mitch Marsh
6. Josh Philippe
7. Josh Inglis
8. Ashton Agar
9. Joel Paris
10. Cameron Gannon
11. Matt Kelly

12th man Hilton Cartwright

It’s the fourth Sheffield Shield wooden spoon in a row for South Australia. Didnt win a game all year in OD or Shield.

Tassie really should have made the final this year. Just let in too many teams all year. Going to be a Qld v NSW final

BobbyVanVeen
10th April 2021, 01:59 PM
Vic beat SA to confirm the fact that SA should really be relegated to 3rd grade cricket.

We did WA a huge favour by going all guns blazing to get 300 in 40 overs(what we needed to get to make the final), gifting WA the win and the last finals spot, kicking qlds out in the process.

NSW v WA final.
