Redbacks really are the WOAT.

All down to the Grade structure below the state level. Been an absolute shambles for years. Too many teams and too many suits with conflicts of interest on the SACA board to make the necessary tough decisions.

Seriously, we were making a late charge for the finals and now that has been ruined by yet another called off game in NSW. Sort it out.

What was the deal with that? I read an article about the game and it was pretty difficult to follow. Game called off for dangerous pitch despite being 75 overs old and not rain effected?

The finish was marred by the game's abandonment due to an unsafe pitch, leaving the Bushrangers to be declared winners via Duckworth-Lewis-Stern calculations after 26 overs had been bowled under lights. Victoria had made 108 for 4 at that point and were deemed to be ahead of the DLS par score by 35 runs.

Andrew Jones, the NSW chief executive, was highly critical of the decision. "It should be a No Result," Jones wrote on Twitter. "Conditions didn't change all game so if it was dangerous for one side it was dangerous for the other. This is right up there with declaring BISP [Blacktown International Sports Park] pitch dangerous right after highest batting partnership in history of FC cricket."

Heard both Langer, Lehman and Smith interviewed separately over the course of the weekend. I know plenty of people donít like JL but his views were :banderas: compared to the alternatives. Basically our 4 bowlers are solid, so pick the best keeper, and best 6 batsman. That is, the 6 most likely to be able to grind it out and make hundreds. Forget about keeper-batsman and all-rounders. Pick the best cunts for their positions. Smith doesnít bowl the all rounder, so why would you pick them. Donít need a chirpy cunt, itís overrated, just the best wicketkeeper

Lehman was classic terrible Lehman - Wade has been short of runs, so hopefully he makes some runs in the three shield matches and then will be right for the Ashes. What about fucking catches Darren? What about not letting through a billion byes? Nah, just about the runs m8s, Iím off for a dart

Smith is turning into a junk cunt too - oh, thereís plenty of good wicketkeeper options, Wade is one of them. Wouldnít name anyone else

Langer isn't a great coach IMO, blessed with having 17 good quicks and one 76 year old making all the runs. Why other states don't poach their quicks I do not understand.

He has turned things around for WA cricket in a major way since he became both Warriors & Scorchers coach. Here is what Ponting said about him earlier this year :-

No Cookies | Daily Telegraph (http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/cricket/ricky-ponting-wants-to-be-australian-coach-but-says-justin-langer-should-succeed-darren-lehmann/news-story/5cc0b3192ac0eda39fb0f3fd3950ea21)

“You can’t have a better coaching CV than what he’s got, simple as that,” he said.

“If you go back to when he started with Western Australia cricket, they were the most underperforming state in the country. In a pretty short space of time they’ve now won three or four of the Big Bash’s he’s been coaching, they’ve won Sheffield Shields and one-day comps and all of a sudden they have guys being picked for Australia again.

“He’s done a remarkable job there. As far as I’m concerned right now, if Boof (Lehmann) was to give it up in the next couple of years he is the obvious replacement.

“I honestly feel if Justin wants to do the job than he’s the man.”

Rumblah
17th October 2017, 06:22 PM
I don't want Langer anywhere near the national setup personally. You guys reckon Boof has a fetish for all-rounders, you ain't seen shit. Also I just see so much Lehmann in him I genuinely don't think he'd fix any of the current problems.

Veteran WA batsman Michael Klinger to play in Bangladesh Twenty20 competition | Perth Now (http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/veteran-wa-batsman-michael-klinger-to-play-in-bangladesh-twenty20-competition/news-story/81eced982489294a1e8e032c5046e81d)

VETERAN Western Australia batsman Michael Klinger has been cleared to play in the Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 tournament.

The 37-year-old, who was controversially left out of WA's Sheffield Shield-opening win over Tasmania last week, received a 'No Objection Clearance' from the WACA and Cricket Australia to play.

He will leave Perth this week for the tournament, which runs from November 4-December 12, in preparation for the Perth Scorchers' upcoming Big Bash campaign.

It effectively rules the run machine out for WA's next four Shield clashes against New South Wales (November 4-7), South Australia (November 13-16), Queensland (November 24-27) and Victoria (December 3-6).

"Klinger remains contracted to the WACA and the... Warriors however the BPL will now form part of Klingerís preparation for his role with the Perth Scorchers in this seasonís KFC Big Bash League," the WACA said in a statement.

The Scorchers' first match of BBL07 is against the Sydney Sixers at the SCG on December 23.

friends for mates basically at the top level of cricket. A lot of crap "friendly" coaches. Dan Marsh only picked his favourites in the team. Our young, mostly interstate players are not improving. We aren't producing any talent ourselves. Our underage teams hadn't won a game for like 2 years before last year. Northern Tassie cricket is a mess and needs a revamp. The Northern first-grade comp is a joke for example. Geevesy talks a lot of shit but most of it about Cricket Tas is spot on.

We have a new chairman at the top. The former Thunder boss. He has already replaced some of the mates such as Wright and Marsh and the chairman of selectors. But with the youth drying up and this "lost" generation of Doran, Silk, Jewell and others who consistently don't deliver might make a long long rebuild.

i fear what our cricket team will be like without Bails.

Behrendorff joins fast bowling injured list | cricket.com.au (http://www.cricket.com.au/news/jason-behrendorff-fast-bowling-injured-list-western-australia-sheffield-shield-back-soreness/2017-11-13)

Australia's deep reserves of fast bowling wealth are diminishing ahead of the Magellan Ashes opener, with left-armer Jason Behrendorff pulled out of Western Australia's JLT Sheffield Shield match against South Australia on Monday.

While Behrendorff is only expected to miss the one game with back soreness, his omission means Australia's pace stocks have been depleted even further following Ashes-ending injuries to Nathan Coulter-Nile and James Pattinson.

Having missed the Warriors’ Shield opener, Behrendorff returned for their star-studded clash with NSW last week and pulled up with a back niggle having sent down 34 overs for the match.

"Jason has pulled up with low grade back soreness after the Sheffield Shield game with New South Wales," WACA physiotherapist Nick Jones said in a statement to cricket.com.au.

"He will use the next 10 days to recover and is expected to be fit by Round 4 when the Warriors play Queensland."

Get fit soon Dorff, missing you already :okay:

My back will never heal fully: Behrendorff | cricket.com.au (http://www.cricket.com.au/news/jason-behrendorff-back-injury-sheffield-shield-western-australia-queensland-preview/2017-11-23)

Western Australia fast bowler Jason Behrendorff has revealed his back will never heal fully, but he hopes it doesn't hold him back from realising his Test dream.

Behrendorff has been forced to deal with back pain since suffering a serious stress fracture in early 2015.

The 27-year-old missed the recent JLT Sheffield Shield loss to South Australia because of a flare-up, but he'll return for the clash with Queensland, starting on Friday at the WACA Ground.

National selectors have long wanted to hand Behrendorff an opportunity to shine in the Test arena, but injuries have so far thwarted those prospects.

But Behrendorff is desperate to keep his Test dreams alive, saying it isn't all doom and gloom with his back.

"It's the old stress fracture that has cracked in the past. It's not fully healed, and it will never fully heal," Behrendorff said of his recent setback.

"There's a few issues with the scar tissue involved in that, getting flared up.

"At this point, it's still quite raw and so that's why I can have some flare-ups at times.

"I've been told a few guys have dealt with it in the past and have had good success stories after it.

"They're hoping my back will settle down and adapt a bit more."

"Quite a few guys have similar fractures to mine. I think it's called a nonunion, so it doesn't heal completely any more.

Jason Behrendorff’s future in red-ball cricket is in doubt after his brittle back succumbed to the strain of having to bowl on consecutive days for WA.

A week after revealing that he hoped to push for Test selection despite dealing with a spinal vertebra fracture that would not heal, the Warriors spearhead was too sore to bowl yesterday after claiming 1-72 from 20 overs in Queensland’s first innings at the WACA Ground.

He will try to bowl today but it may be academic with WA struggling to set a challenging target after leg-spinner Mitch Swepson routed the top order.

WA’s pace depth has been challenged further with questions growing over the future of silky left-armer Joel Paris.

WA coach Justin Langer said Paris was now at a career crossroads after the 25-year-old broke down with a recurrence of a chronic quad injury.

It was the sixth time in three seasons that Paris has succumbed to soft tissue injuries in his legs and he appears unlikely to add to his six shield matches this summer.

Fellow quicks Nathan Coulter-Nile, Jason Behrendorff, David Moody and Cam Green are all recovering from spinal stress fractures and will not bowl again this season while Andrew Holder (knee) and Andrew Tye (Australia) are unavailable.

ffs you think they might want to do something about how that entire program is run?

https://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/cricket/waca-set-to-confirm-adam-voges-as-new-coach-ng-b88852455z

FORMER WA skipper Adam Voges is expected to be officially announced as the state’s coach this morning.

The WACA has called a press conference for 10am to confirm the appointment.

Voges is understood to be the only candidate to replace Justin Langer, who stepped up into the national coaching position following the resignation of Darren Lehmann.

Voges only retired from the Perth Scorchers captaincy earlier this year.
